< Resolved to seek another island where the shame would no longer weigh openly upon >

¡®¡¦They resolved to seek another island where shame of defeat would no longer weigh openly upon them¡¦.¡¯

from the book <Easter Island> by Alfred Metraux

This drawing starts from an image of the ruins of Waldenburg Germany in 1945.

Far way with the clouds a ship flies towards somewhere, somewhere according to Isaac Levitan ¡®Above the Eternal Peace¡¯.

This ship is the Slave-Yacht Wanderer, which is the last documented ship to bring a cargo of slaves from Africa to the United States.

I wanted to express a thought about mistakes, despair and fall, but still a hope.

I believe this drawing could be reminiscent of the feeling that I felt from the passage ¡®To live, to err, to fall, to triumph, to recreate life out of life¡¦¡¯
